Chiesetta del Redentore of Vigolo Vattaro
The little Church “of The Redeemer” lies in the “Caìn” oder “Pine” quarter, the name coming from the family, who once owned the nearby-lying spinning mill: as a matter of fact, this was named “The church of the Spinners”. The building dates back to the 18° century and was built by the will of the aristocratic Gentilottis near their country house.
The interiors are decorated in Baroque style; a dome dominates the presbytery and the vault is frescoed with architectural floral motives.
Noticeable is the fact that there is no altarpiece: the building has been abandoned for many years and showed signs of decay.
In 1980 the church was restored and is now as magnificent as it has been in the past. However, it is no more a place of worship: it is used for art exhibitions and cultural events.
